| IG&CC was established in 1927 and has, since that time, proven to be one of the most attractive and challenging tests of golf in the county of Sussex.
Within easy reach of the United Kingdoms motorway network and London's international airport Gatwick, the golf club has, over the years, been an attraction for hundreds of thousands of visitors to the area. During its long tenure the golf club has ensured its longevity and thriving membership by ensuring full integration with local community that surrounds it within the village of Ifield and the wider area of Crawley. From within this community many families have become synonymous with the club and even today it is not uncommon to see father and son playing with Grandfather.
The golf course itself, little changed since its inception, measures over 6,300 yards from the back tees. No matter if you are playing from the whites, yellow or red tees the design of the course ensures that is has stood the test of time and offers a good challenge to all levels of ability.
IG&CC is an ideal venue for society and promotional golf. In the post war years Ifield was home to a number of pro-celebrity and pro-amateur tournaments with Harry Secombe, Dickie Henderson and Eric Sykes, amongst others, lending their names to what was always a popular event. The days of the Pro-Amateur tournament continue to this day and each June finds the foremost club and tour professionals from Sussex leading teams of amateurs around the fairways of Ifield.
Winning Ryder Cup captain Bernard Gallacher started his career at Ifield as an assistant professional and has always given credit to the club for the start it gave him. A signed picture of him with the Ryder Cup trophy can be seen in the clubhouse alongside other notable scenes from the history of the club.
The clubhouse itself always offers a welcome to visitor and member alike with full restaurant and bar facilities available throughout the year.
